Last weekend I indulged in fast food and zoo food. It was a result of poor planning and spontaneity on my part and guess what - I'm totally comfortable with it!

I've reached a place where I can eat food that doesn't offer much nutritious value without feeling guilty, ashamed, or like giving up on all future health goals.

Here’s our food philosophy:

I will never tell you a food is “bad” or “good”. I will never tell you you HAVE to eat a certain way, a certain diet, at a certain time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There are so many thoughts, feelings and emotions tied to food. And rightly so, eating stimulates so many receptors in our brains. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What if you could approach eating from a place of LOVE instead a place of distrust or fear? What if you could eat a doughnut without feeling like you had to punish yourself? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A challenge for you today: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
TASTE YOUR FOOD.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Like really really taste it. Savor every bite of whatever it is you’re eating. Notice what feelings and sensations come up for you.
I 100% believe that diet trends do more harm than good in the long run. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Especially since there isn’t enough empirical research on long-term effects of all the fade out there. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Most of the mamas who come to me are on their 3rd or 4th diet and are DONE with feeling deprived, exhausted with all the counting, and just want to feel AMAZING.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few years ago I was following all the wellness trends and trying all the things. Pushing aside what I felt was the best approach for me and following what I saw ‘worked’ for strangers on the Internet. SPOILER: every diet or cleanse made me feel worse.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It wasn’t until I started working with a holistic nutritionist myself (yep, every coach should have a coach!) that I started to feel COMFORTABLE with my food choices and my body. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So tell me, what diets/fads/cleanses have you tried? What did and didn’t work with them? 👇🏼
Here’s what I know to be true:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There is no ‘step-by-step’ program for health.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Each nutrient and vitamin and mineral is necessary - but taste and emotions are just as important when it comes to food.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our health is directly impacted by hormones. Hormones that go in to super drive when we’re pregnant or breastfeeding.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The pelvic floor is your core. And no, not all prenatal yoga classes are ‘totally safe’.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Chronic stress can lead to chronic disease not just for you but for your baby as well.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Any diet plan that someone didn’t create especially for you as the unique individual you are won’t work for you in the long run.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can absolutely be healthy and still enjoy cinnamon buns. And you’ll be happier too.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Health means incorporating foods, exercise and mindset in a way that works for YOU. Not what’s worked for influencers on Instagram or the latest diet guru. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you don’t believe you can make lasting healthy changes, you won’t.
MIND + BODY + FOOD

Oh, bodies. How many times have you looked in a mirror and experienced negative thoughts about your body?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The women I work with are in a constant state of bodily change. Either preparing for pregnancy, growing a tiny human, breastfeeding and trying to lose baby weight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
All of that change can feel isolating, shameful, frustrating. You’re never comfortable, always changing clothes, not knowing when you’ll feel normal again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I get it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After 4 babies, 6 pregnancies in just 7 years, I have been through it all. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And that’s why the second pillar of health at Hello Nourish is BODY. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Body image, self-love, and - yes - exercise.

I’ve spent years studying safe and effective exercise for pregnancy and postpartum bodies and using it to help women feel confident and comfortable in their ever-changing bodies.

The conversation about wellness of any kind is incomplete without the topic of the MIND.

Why do most New Years resolutions fail?
Why do people quit diets?
Why are there so many unused gym memberships?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s all in our minds. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The secret to healthy behaviors? Cultivating a healthy relationship with mindfulness. Cultivating a healthy relationship with your thoughts, feelings and emotions. You know that brownie isn’t healthy and you’re going to eat it anyway. WHY? Because you have feelings and thoughts and emotions attached to that brownie that are stronger than your thoughts feelings and emotions surrounding why you wouldn’t eat the brownie. Stronger than your health goals. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can’t expect to follow any diet or exercise plan without the proper mindset.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s why MIND is the first pillar of health at Hello Nourish.
I fell in to the trap of trying to fit in. To look like everyone else, sound like everyone else, follow the step-by-step plans that have worked for other wellness businesses.

But by following the masses I lost my story. My voice. My inspiration. And I finally achieved it - I started to fit in. And I DO NOT want to fit in.

Because my message and the soul of Hello Nourish is not about fitting in. It’s about standing in your power, owning your choices. Saying NO to diet fads and trends and FEELING what works for you and your body. 
So I’m taking a step back. Reevaluating my story, how to serve you best, how to not fit in.

Consider these next posts a breath of fresh air as you scroll through and an invitation to take a look at your life and see where you’ve been trying to fit in because you’re afraid to stand in your own beautiful unique power.
Are your goals superficial?

Your goals are YOURS. And if that’s fitting in to your pre-pregnancy jeans or running a marathon or finally getting pregnant they’re YOUR GOALS.

Only you know if they’re superficial or deep. Only you know what goal will keep you going. Keep moving forward. Keep putting in the work. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
